Photo LAMOINE HAYNES WOOD RIVER — LaMoine E. Haynes, 97, of Wood River passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, at Eunice Smith Home in Alton. He was born Feb. 15, 1918, in Alton, the son of Earl and Gladys (Knapp) Haynes. He married Helen Barton on August 12, 1955, in Wood River. LaMoine was employed as a tool and die maker for 34 years at various shops in the area, the last being Lenhardt Tool and Die in Alton. He retired in 1981. He is survived by son Ronald Haynes (Sherry) of Alton, three grandsons, Mark, Michael and Matthew, three granddaughters-in-law, five great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Kathy Hayes of Michigan, a nephew Curtis Cox of Marion, as well as other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Helen, parents, nephew Stanley Cox (Betty) and other relatives. LaMoine and his wife enjoyed dancing, yard work, and were active members of the First Christian Church in Wood River. Funeral services will be conducted at Paynic Home for Funerals, East Alton. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, with funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in LaMoine's name to First Christian Church of Wood River or BJC Hospice of Alton.

BETHALTO - Donald F. "Don" Hodapp, 81, passed away 7:57 a.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2015, in the emergency room at Franklin Hospital in Benton, Ill. He was born on July 28, 1934, in Carlyle, Ill., the son of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Kohlbrecher) Hodapp. He married the former Judith A. "Judy" Trice on October 15, 1960, in Alton and she survives. Other survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda Hodapp of Bethalto, Starla and Dave Germeroth of Alton, Deanna and Brad Zercher of Mackinaw, Ill.; two grandchildren, Sarah Ehler, Rickey Hayes; and two great-grandchildren, Bryce Ehler and Braelynn Ehler. He is also survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Helen Hollenkamp of Carlyle, Marilyn and Eddie Miller of Carlyle; and one brother, Clarence Hodapp of Carlyle. Don was formerly employed by the United Ironworkers Local 392 for over 30 years prior to his retirement. He loved camping, fishing, and model trains. He enjoyed traveling and going on scenic railway trips. He was of the Catholic faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Walt Hodapp and Robert Hodapp. In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of funeral services at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, at Short Cemetery in Cottage Hills. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association and will be accepted at the funeral home. Online guestbook available at .

Photo THOMAS 'HOOP' HOOPER JR. ALTON — Thomas Eugene "Hoop" Hooper Jr., 69, died at 10:04 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Born Dec. 25, 1945, in Alton, he was the son of Thomas E. Hooper Sr. and Mary Francis (Swift) Hooper. He graduated from Alton High School in 1965 and was drafted into the Army where he proudly served his county from 1965-1967. After 25 years he retired from Shell Oil Company as a sheet metal worker. Hoop was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1308 and also a member of the Alton Eagles, ABATE Piasa Godfrey Chapter, Alton Masonic Lodge, Shriners International, and a sustaining member of Motorcycle Rider Foundation. Surviving is a daughter Tawnya R. Hooper of Alton, a son, Thomas E. Hooper III of Alton, three grandchildren; Reid Murray of Alton, Kathryn Woolsey of East Alton and Tabitha Hooper of Kansas City, Mo. Also surviving is a sister, Karen Braatz of O'Fallon, Ill., nieces, Lauren Mcelhaney and her family of St. Albans, Mo., and Megan Pant and her family of Ellicott City, Maryland, and the mother of his children, Sharon L. Hooper. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Gent Funeral Home in Alton and continue from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, at Gent Funeral Home. Reverend Jack Hyden will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308. A portion of his remains will be buried at the Punch Bowl in Hawaii. Memorials may be made to the VFW Post 1308. Online guestbook and information may be found at .
