He retired in 1981 as an inspector with Owens Illinois. He was a Church of Christ preacher for 50 years, and the Chaplin for the VFW Post 1308 in Alton for twenty years. He loved his family and never met a child or dog he didn't like.

On Nov. 29, 1946, in Perry, Ill., he married Jennie L. Reeves and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Marcia J. Beiermann of Godfrey and Marla S. Scoggins of Bethalto; one son, Myron L. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 14, at the Godfrey Church of Christ with James Lampley to officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with full Military Honors by VFW Post 1308.

Jennie and family, I had lost track of you all and wondered where you were, thinking about you often. I found you in the obituaries today and am saddened about Charlie's death. He was a wonderful and inspiring preacher and a good man!I pray that you and the rest of the family are well. I don't drive anymore and live in Calhoun with my daughter, Jana, so I probably won't be able to attend the services, though
I would love to. Love to you and the family. Alice June Jacobs Fiedler
