ALTON - Elmer W. Coryell "Wimp" 82, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Robings Manor in Brighton.

He was born April 30, 1932 in Hettick, Ill., to Elmer and Edna (Burger) Coryell. He married Sally J. Neutzman in 1952, in Pocahontas, Ark.

He served his country in the Army during the Korean War and received two bronze stars. He worked for many years as a supervisor in Cupping and Fabricating Department at Olin. He was a member of the Brighton American Legion. He loved reading and was an avid Cardinal fan.

He is survived by his wife, Sally J. Coryell of Alton; two sons, Douglas Coryell and his partner David Finley of Plano, Texas and Steven Coryell of Alton; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Stephen Webb of Godfrey; three grandchildren, Teresa Webb of Godfrey and Matthew Webb of Alton and Amanda Webb of Alton; three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Ajai and Calista; three sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews and a beloved pet, Teddy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis Coryell; and sister, Wilma Weber.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights.
