ALTON - Gene LeRoy Hubbard, 83, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014.

He was born July 12, 1931, in Wood River to Harry and Alma Hubbard.

Gene retired as a mold maker of Owens IL Glassworks of Alton. He served in the Armed Services from January 1952 - February 1954, and received the "Occupation Medal" and "National Defense Service Medal" during his years of service. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and member of the EOW.

Surviving are his five children, Nancy (Jack) Waggener of Alhambra, Deborah (Ronald) Rippey, Jr. of Pekin, Ill, Susan Hubbard of Champaign, Ill., Edward (Donna) Hubbard of Wood River, Kenneth Hubbard and fiancee, Wendy Sanchez of Austin, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth (Walter) Lengacher.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at Oakwood Upper Alton Cemetery, Alton, with Pastor Martin Schultz officiating. Military Rites performed by Alton VFW Post #1308.
