Nancy Ann Millican, 67, of St. Peters, Mo., died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Mount Carmel Senior Living in St. Charles, Mo., after succumbing to her courageous battle with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma for the past three years.

Nancy was born in Vandalia, Ill., on Nov. 16, 1946, the daughter of Glen and the late Louise (Logan) Ruffner. She married John Millican, now deceased, in 1976. Together they owned several businesses throughout Missouri until having their son Lance in 1984, and moving to Wood River, where John worked for the Boy Scouts of America and Nancy became the librarian for Lewis and Clark Elementary. Nancy was active in volunteering with the Boy Scouts and at East Alton-Wood River High School with the booster club.

Nancy fought and defeated breast cancer in 2003, and was in remission from that when she was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2011. Throughout all of the treatments, Nancy held her head high and fought as hard as she could up until the very end.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Louise, and her loving husband John. Surviving are her father, Glen Ruffner of Sebring, Fla., 101, and her son and daughter-in-law, Lance and Abby Millican of St. Louis.

Nancy's wishes to be cremated have been honored. Private burial services will be held at a later date. For more information, please visit
