SANDRA A. FARRIS
ROXANA, IL. — On July 16, 2014, Sandra Ann (Sechrest) Farris, 47, loving wife, wonderful mother, and outstanding daughter died unexpectedly in an auto accident near Crowley, La., vacationing with her husband, Bob Farris and daughter, Marissa.
Sandra was born on Jan. 7, 1967, in Granite City, Ill. On Dec. 31, 1990, she married Robert "Bob" Farris in South Roxana, Ill. She was "The Love of His Life." On Nov. 5, 1994, Sandra presented Bob with the greatest gift of all, their daughter Marissa Danae Farris, a sophomore at the University of Illinois - Springfield.
Following graduation from Bethalto High School's Class of 1985, Sandra worked as a legal secretary for law firms in Alton and Edwardsville. In 1992, she began her 21 year postal career serving as a Rural Carrier at the Godfrey Post Office. She loved her postal customers that she served and considered them family. Sandra truly loved life, family reunions and large gatherings. She always had a smile on her face and her presence lit up a room. Sandra dearly loved to shop, read, camp and travel. Her favorite evening activity was sitting around a campfire reading or visiting with friends and relatives. Sandra also loved her vast collections she had accumulated over her lifetime which included purses, shoes, bags and firewood. One of her favorite cherished items in life was her hydraulic log splitter. Sandra was attending the Hartford Assembly of God Church.
Sandra Farris is survived by her husband Bob and the "Light of Her Life" daughter, Marissa of Roxana; mother and step-father, Linda (Jackson) and Wes Roberts of Cottage Hills; one sister, Regina (Sechrest) Baldwin of Roxana; two brothers, Larry and Ronda Sechrest of Alton; and Dennis and Aimee Sechrest of Wood River; one stepsister Karen (Roberts) and Andy Chamberlain of Troy; three stepbrothers, Frank and Kendra Roberts of Alton; Wes and Chrissy Roberts of Hartford; Jason and Marie Roberts of California; numerous nieces and nephews which Sandra loved dearly.
Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Dorvin Sechrest of Cottage Hills.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, at the Bethalto Church of God, 800 E Bethalto Blvd., Bethalto, Ill., where Funeral Services will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 25. Pastor Jacob Smith from the Port Arthur, Texas Assembly of God Church will be officiating. Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
