HALEY MICHEL
COTTAGE HILLS — Haley Nicole Michel, 20, passed away at 6:55 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born October 8, 1996, in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Danny and Sandra (Brown) Michel.
Haley graduated from Civic Memorial High School in 2015. While in high school she was a member of Mu Alpha Theta, Student Council, National Honors Society, Spanish Nation Honors Society, an Illinois State Scholar and a Silver Medallion Award recipiant. She was currently a sophomore at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville where she passionately studied nursing. She was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Phi Eta Sigma National Honors Society and was on the Dean's List. Haley enjoyed running, hiking, biking, and spending her free time at Club Fitness. She was a brilliant young woman and the best friend anyone could ever have.
In addition to her parents, Danny and Sandra, she is survived by a sister, Lindsey Michel and Ethan Harshbarger of Cottage Hills; a grandfather, Harold Michel of O'Fallon; four uncles, Steve Michel of Fairview Heights, Ed (Pat) Brown of Cottage Hills; Randy Brown of Cottage Hills and Larry Brown of Cottage Hills; an aunt Penny (Marty) Brown of Topeka Kansas; best friends, Julie Bruns of Bethalto and Summer Standefer of Bethalto.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Arlene and Vern Brown, and paternal grandmother, Shirley Michel.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 pm Friday, May 5, 2017 at the First Christian Church in Bethalto.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017 at First Christian Church in Bethalto with Rev. Tony Jackson officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials to be given to The Haley Michel Scholarship Fund (Checks payable to Daniel Michel).
