JERSEYVILLE - Linda Elizabeth "Poopsie" (Carpunky) Hatcher, 77, died at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Jerseyville Manor in Jerseyville.

She was born in White Hall on July 14, 1936, one of three daughters born to the late Wesley L. and Hazel J. (Taylor) Carpunky.

"Poopsie" graduated from Carrollton High School in 1955 and gave much of her time and energy to various employers throughout the area starting with Principia College in Elsah, where she aided in the kitchen before becoming a Prep-Cook at Famous Barr and later devoting her time to the Jerseyville American Legion.

She was a member of the Moose Lodge as well as the Ladies of the Elks where she volunteered countless hours and made many lasting friendships throughout the years.

Surviving are her four children, Candy Hull of Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; Barbara Nash of Winchester; Jane Ann Hatcher and her companion, Brian McKinney of Winchester; and Mike Hatcher of Winchester; four stepchildren, Gary Hatcher of Winchester, Dan Hatcher and his wife, Genise, of Winchester, Karen Hatcher of Winchester, and Debra Marshall and her husband, John of Mt. Sterling; five grandchildren, Dalton Hatcher of Winchester, Chelsea Hull of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., Luke and Gena Nash of Winchester, and Ethan Hatcher of Winchester; eleven step grandchildren; 25 step great-grandchildren; and one step great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Nancy Settles of Dow and Rebecca Radley of Jerseyville and their families; along with many special friends and extended family members, too numerous to mention by name.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Dianna Hoots; a step grandson, Chris Hatcher; a son-in-law, Dan Hull; a brother-in-law, Kenny Settles and a nephew, Barry Settles.

Per her wishes cremation rights have been accorded.

Memorial visitation will be from 4 until time of service at 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville with the Rev. Brent Meyer officiating.

Inurnment will take place alongside her parents at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Scott County Community Outreach, Jersey Community Hospital Foundation Blood Bank or simply donate blood in Poopsie's honor.
