EAST ALTON —

Donald James Church, 76, passed away 8:20 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Born on Dec. 5, 1937, in Gladewater, Texas, he was the son of James Frederick and Ethie Janell (Wright) Church.

A U.S. Air Force veteran, he had been a district manager in the petroleum industry before retiring in 1999.

He married the former Eva Ladell Halbert on Nov. 29, 2003, in Alton. She survives.

Surviving also are two sons, Daniel Church of Orlando, Fla., Timothy (Jolana) Church of Collinsville; daughter, Christine Church of Orlando; stepdaughter, Vicki (Fred) Monroe of East Alton; three grandchildren, Jacob, Kherington and Kamden Church; three stepgrandchildren, Randy (Becki) Rhyne, Ashley (James) Romero, Aaron Rhyyne; four stepgreat- grandchildren; three brothers, Jack Waits of North Dakota, Fred Church of Bethalto, Carl Church of Wood River; a sister, Gay Lynn Dickens of North Carolina.

Preceding in death were his parents and two brothers, John Waits and Kenneth Church.

Visitation was held Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Hearts Harvest Fellowship Church, Bethalto.

Family burial rites will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
