GODFREY - Ellen May Brooks, 80, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014, at her residence.

Born in Alton on Jan. 20, 1934, she was the daughter of Leland B. and Nellie Lucille (Richardson) Campbell.

She had been in Support Services at Alton Mental Health and Rehabilitation and had worked for the Pancake Ranch as a pastry preparer.

She married, Glenn Vetter, Sr., later married, Arthur L. Branham and then Joseph Willard Brooks.

Surviving are five sons, Glenn, Jr. (Belinda) Vetter of Godfrey, Michael (Terry) Vetter of Bethalto, DeWayne (Denise) Vetter of East Alton, Dennis Vetter of Wood River, Joseph (Tammy) Vetter of Cottage Hills; two daughters, Zita (Mark) Sawyers and Nelinda Vetter all of Godfrey; step sons, James (Carol) Brooks of Cottage Hills, Arthur (Carol) Branham of New Jersey; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William E. (Paulette) Campbell of Marion, Harry J. (Ruth Ann) Campbell of Ashley; and a sister, Nellie Marie (Ronnie) Gunter of Moscow Mills, Mo.

Preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Vetter II.

A memorial visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Rev. Charles West will officiate.

Private burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Beverly Farms Foundation.
