BETHALTO - Helen E. (Staton) Hon, 92, died at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at her home in Bethalto.

Born March 21, 1922, in Mill Shoals, Ill., she was the daughter of Vernon and Edith (Wiley) Staton.

Mrs. Hon was a homemaker and a member of the Brown Street Baptist Church in Alton. She enjoyed reading and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan. On Aug. 29, 1940, she married Reverend William "Bud" Hon in Mill Shoals. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2004.

Surviving are three daughters, Cathie Wille (David) of Alton, Wilma Denton of Newark, Ohio, and Elaine Noascono of Bethalto; a son, Jerry Hon (Nancy) of Davenport, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin Staton and Larry Staton both of Mill Shoals; and three sisters, Eleanor Lambert of Mills Shoals, Olene Bieber of Alton, and Leota Toombs of Hartford.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Melody Hon; a son-in-law, Larry Noascono; and three brothers.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12 noon Saturday, Aug. 23, at Brown Street Baptist Church. Burial will be at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.

Memorials may be made to the Brown Street Baptist Church or BJC Hospice.
