FAYE (AMANDA) MINZER
ALTON — Faye (Amanda) Minzer, 73, passed away at 12:28 p.m. on Monday Feb. 17, 2014, at her residence in Alton.
She was born in Greenfield on Nov. 27, 1940, the daughter of the late James and Wilma (Dorsey) Bryant.
She was formerly married to Rudy C. Minzer on Oct. 5, 1968, in Alton.
Faye graduated from Marquette High School in 1958, and from the St. Joseph School of Nursing in Alton in 1961, She worked as a registered nurse for over 50 years, most recently at Laclede Steel from 1973 to 2001. She was a Red Hat Lady, loved to knit, crochet, cross stitch, and embroider. She loved to watch the Cardinals and the Rams, Dancing with the Stars and the Olympics. She could answer any question about cooking you had, although she didn't cook much. She liked to play solitaire, work crossword puzzles, word-finds and reading. She was an ongoing member of St. Matthews Altar Society, and enjoyed the monthly lunches at Golden Corral. She adored her dog, Lola and her cat, Sully. She loved the Muny and listening to music. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by two children and their spouses, Jeanne and Tom Grossheim of Alton and Jeff and Laura Minzer of Springfield, Ill., eight grandchildren, Michael, Brandon, Lindsey, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Gianna Grossheim, Lachlan and Quinn Minzer; a sister, Patricia Kuehnel of Alton; nieces and nephews and their spouses, Mike and Ruth, Chris and Christina, Ken and Michelle, Katie and Robb and Laura.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Dennis, a sister, Jenelle, a nephew, Mark, a niece, Theresa and two brothers-in-law, Bob and Rich.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. Fr. John Luong, O.M.V. will be the celebrant.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
