OLNEY, ILL. — Roland D Cobine, 81, of Olney, Ill., formerly of Roxana, passed away at 12:12 p.m. Wednesday May 28, 2014, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney. He was born June 26, 1932, in Alton, to Raymond and Margaret (Harshbarger) Cobine. He married Phyllis Hudspeth Feb. 14, 1956. He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as a police officer at SIUE for over 20 years.
He is survived by his three daughters and son-in-law, Sandy and Brad Shryock of Olney, Susie Elliott of Bethalto and Sherry Kuhn of Roxana; seven grandchildren, Jacob and Jennifer Shryock, David and Mark (Melissa) Elliott and Shelly and Keith Yates and Tim Nevlin; five great-grandchildren, Gunner and Huck Elliott, Ethan and Dagan Hubbs and Chloe Nevlin.
He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis I. Cobine, and brother, Jim Cobine.
A private graveside service was held at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights was entrusted with professional services. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Leukemia Research Foundation. Online guestbook is available at www.paynicfh.com.
