PAMELA WILLIAMS
POPE, MISSISSIPPI — Pamela Kay (Gibbons) Williams, 54, passed away unexpectedly Friday afternoon, December 23, 2016 near Pope, Mississippi, while delivering mail on her route. Pamela was born March 19, 1962, to Mary (Carman) Gibbons and the late, J.B. Gibbons in Harrisburg, Illinois.
Pamela was a Postal Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service (seven years from retirement). She grew up in Bethalto, Illinois, and graduated from Civic Memorial High School in 1980, where she was active in sports and loved playing Powder Puff girl's football.
Pam loved her job as a mail carrier and will be missed by those on her route, who say she was always friendly and outgoing. She looked forward to celebrating birthdays with her sister, Vickie, and other family events. Pam loved living in Mississippi, the people she knew there, and the friends she made. She spoke with a southern accent the day after she arrived in Batesville, Mississippi.
Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory include her children, Cooper Clemens Williams III (Andrea), who is serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and lives in Topsail, North Carolina, and Jeremy Allen Williams (Allison) of Oxford, Mississippi. Following the untimely death of Melissa Williams, Pamela took legal guardianship and raised her sister-in-law's children, Cecily (Perry) Kendall of Cascilla, Mississippi, Meagan Nicole Perry and John Wesley Perry Jr., both of Oxford. She also leaves her mother, Mary (Carman) Gibbons; her sister, Vickie (Gibbons) Fortner (Steve); brother Preston Gibbons, all of Bethalto; and brother Rodney Gibbons of Cottage Hills, Illinois; nephews, Bill Agles (Jen), Joe Agles (Emily), Brandon Gibbons, and Derek Gibbons; grandchildren, Rachel Danielle Williams, Alley-Kay Michelle Williams, Hannah Kay Williams, and Avery Cooper Williams.
In addition to her father, Pamela is preceded in death by a brother, Donald Gibbons; a nephew, Jason Gibbons; and a sister-in-law, Kimberly (Hamilton) Gibbons.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016 at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, Mississippi, with Rev. Tracey Williams officiating. Interment was at Bethel Cemetery.
