Thomas J. Kraky of Scott Twp., died Friday in the Hospice Unit of Regional Hospital of Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Joan M. Kraky.
Thomas was born in Blakely, Aug. 25, 1928, to the late Thomas and Mary Hudachak Kraky. He was a graduate of Scott High School, the University of Scranton with a B.S. in education; and Marywood University where he received his masters in education through the G.I. Bill. Before his retirement, he was employed by the Northeast ern Intermediate Unit as a special education teacher. He was a veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Army of Occupation Medal-Japan, as well as the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of St. John Vianney Parish. He was also an active member of the community.
He was a kind-hearted and loving man, who always thought of others before himself. He was an avid Penn State, Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies and Lakeland Chiefs fan. He particularly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren compete in their sports.
Special thanks to his longtime companion and friend, Louise Gilfedder of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., for all the love and care she provided.
He is survived by his children, Thomas and Danette Kraky of Scott Twp.; James and Melinda Kraky of New Tripoli; Robert and Linda Lepre of Scott Twp.; Michael and Suzanne Kraky of Scott Twp.; and Patrick and Barbara Kraky of Scott Twp.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ellen Scott; and a sister, Ann M. Kraky.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Albert P. O'Donnell Funeral Home, 2025 Green Ridge St., Dunmore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. John Vianney Parish, Montdale. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Montdale. All those attending the funeral are asked to proceed directly to the church.
Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Unit at the Regional Hospital of Scranton.

Love to you all! I will miss Uncle Tom dearly. I am so grateful to have had such a wonderful time with him, Louise and family on Memorial Day this year in Florida. He was a wonderful man and I could always feel the genuine love he had for me, my sons, Maureen,Gene and families. Love you all!
