Watson Jr., Alfred J. - Scranton  
Alfred J. Watson Jr., Scranton, died Saturday at Commonwealth Hospice after a brief illness. His wife is the former Shirley Hurchick. The couple celebrated 58 years of marriage on Nov. 17. Born in Edwardsville, son of the late Alfred J. Sr. and Eloise Hughes Watson, he was a graduate of Edwardsville High School, and attended Duquesne University, where he earned a football scholarship. He served as a sergeant for the Marine Corps in the Korean Conflict. Before retirement, he was employed by Erie-Lackawanna Railroad and Conrail as a locomotive engineer for more than 40 years. Also surviving are a daughter, Cheryl Ann Watson, Scranton; nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Josiah and James Watson. A funeral service was held at the convenience of the family with full military honors by the Marine Corps and the AMVETS. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann St., Scranton.

Walsh, Dorothy H. - Old Forge  
Dorothy H. Walsh, 84, of Old Forge, formerly of Dunmore, died Sunday evening in the Golden Living Center, Scranton. Her husband, John Walsh, died Sept. 7, 1994. The couple had been married for 28 years. Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy Olszewski Zarick, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School. Before retirement, she worked for the Bon-Ton department store for many years. She enjoyed trips to the casino and her nights out with friends, especially the "Calamari Singers," listening to music. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for all of its care and compassion, especially her nurse, Jeanne Sembrat. Surviving are her companion of 20 years, Tony Naro, Olyphant; daughters, Cheryl Cathrall, Clarks Summit; and Carol Kosek and husband, Mark, Old Forge; a son, Thomas Edmiston and companion, Bonnie, Conway, S.C.; sisters, Irene Giello and Delores Capoocia; brother, Joseph Zarick and wife, Jane, all of Dunmore; grandchildren, Jennifer Cathrall, Eric Sokoloski and Alyssa and Kacie Kosek; and great-grandson, Hunter Sokoloski; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jamie Cathrall. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore. Walsh, Sylvia G. - Waymart  
Sylvia G. Walsh, a resident of Wayne Woodlands Manor, died Tuesday after a long illness. She was the wife of the late William H. Walsh, formerly of Scranton. Born in Manhattan, N.Y. on May 24, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Lorenzo and Agripina Borges Garcia. She is survived by her stepdaughters, Sharon Asch and husband, Bruce, Englewood, Fla.; and Patricia Jennings, Peckville; grandchildren, Eric Asch and wife, Cady, Charlotte, N.C.; Jason Asch and wife, Jennifer, Scott Twp.; Margot Jennings Belardi and husband, Rich, Taylor; Jessica Jennings Hogan and husband, Kevin, Eynon; and Sean Jennings and wife, Stephanie, Covington Twp.; great-grandchildren, Valen and Kirin Asch, Gabriella Belardi, Robby and Quin Hogan, Matthew, Molly, Emmy and Ryan Jennings; and cousins, Marielena Kaminski and her partner, Barbara Batton, Ashland, N.Y.; and Rosemarie Kaminski Sansone and husband, Sam, New York City. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry. Her funeral will be in Clearwater, Fla. at the convenience of the family. Local arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Jenkins Funeral Home, 269 Belmont St., Waymart.

Wioncek, Regina - Enfield  
Regina Wioncek, 95, of Enfield, Conn., and formerly of Dickson City, died Friday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Wioncek. Born in Detroit, daughter of the late William and Sophie Kruszski Pawelski, she was an active member of St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City, where she participated in the quilting program. She was educated in Dickson City schools and before retirement she was employed as a floorlady at Valley Modes dress factory. Surviving are a daughter, Virginia Solomon and husband, Robert, Enfield; a son, Jan Wioncek and wife, Theresa, Flemington, N.J.; a sister, Romayne Malaker, Scotch Plains, N.J.; nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Chester Pawelski; and a sister, Blanche LaPlaca. The funeral will be Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Mary's Visitation Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Scott Twp.
