Albert F. Registro, 96, of Honesdale, formerly of Beach Lake, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Anna Campanelli, on June 23, 1982, and his second wife, the former Helen Bartron, on June 6, 1997.
Born May 8, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late James and Mary Registro. Before retiring, he worked in Brooklyn as a longshoreman.
Al was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale, attending St. Bernard's Church in Beach Lake, where he was a former member of the choir.
An avid New York Yankees fan, he also enjoyed music, playing guitar and listening to opera.
Surviving are a daughter, Marion DeVita, Honesdale; a son, Joseph Registro and wife, Linda, Boynton Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Susan DeVita, Joseph DeVita, Lynn Christiansen, Anne Registro and Christina Registro; seven great-grandchildren; and his dear friend, Shirley Golden.
He was also preceded in death by a son, James Registro; and sister, Agnes Manutti.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wayne Memorial Hospital for the loving and compassionate care they gave Al during his time of illness.
As per his request, cremation services are being arranged by Hessling Funeral Home Inc., 428 Main St., Honesdale. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Honesdale. Interment will be at Pinelawn Cemetery, Farmindale, N.Y., at the convenience of his family.
