Albert L. Gibbs, 76, of Scranton, died Saturday afternoon in Hospice Community Care in Dunmore following an illness. His wife is the former Sandra E. Murray. The couple married on June 13, 1992.
Born Nov. 10, 1936, in Scranton he was the son of the late Louis Harrington Gibbs and Vivian Jones Gibbs Dickson. He was a Marine and a lifelong member of the Marine Corps League. Before retirement, he was employed as a supervisor with Hawk Oil Co. He was a member of Green Ridge Primitive Methodist Church, Scranton.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of Tunkhannock Beagle Club. Albert was a PIAA baseball umpire for many years.
Also surviving are his children, Albert L. Gibbs Jr. and wife, Sue, Scott Twp.; Sandra Mantanye and husband, Carl, Dalton; Barbara Pechal and husband, Henry, Old Forge; Ronald Gibbs, Taylor; Lisa DonVito and husband, Joseph, Tunkhannock; Lisa Kryeski and husband, Rick, Moscow; Cindy Luongo and fiancée, Arch Lafferty, Scranton; Joseph Michauskas and wife, Denise, Jim Thorpe; and Judy Trager and husband, Michael, Scranton; a brother, Roy Gibbs and wife, Cindy, Lake Ariel; two sisters, Susan Morgan and husband, John, Hawley; and Judy Rollison and husband, Raymond, Honesdale; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Arndts; and a grandson, Gerard Bilardi III.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Howard J. Snowdon Funeral Home, 1810 Sanderson Ave., Scranton, by the Rev. Charles Beth. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, 10 until time of service. The Marine Corps League of Scranton will conduct a service at 6 on Tuesday.
