Alice Marie Carpenter, 54, of Scranton, died Wednesday at home.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of Marie Overbay Carpenter of Dickson City and the late George Carpenter. She was a graduate of West Scranton High School, class of 1977, and the University of Scranton, summa cum laude, and was a member of the special Jesuit liberal arts program. She also did graduate studies at Marywood University. Before retirement, she was employed in the accounting department at Allied Services. She resided for most of her life in Scranton and was a former member of St. John the Baptist Church.
She is also survived by four brothers, Joseph and wife, Sharon, Carlisle; Michael and wife, Mame, Hudson, Mass.; Deacon Gerard and wife, Mary Kay, Dickson City; and David and wife, Sherry, Centerville, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Judy Carpenter, Clayton, N.J.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Richard and infant brothers, George III and John.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St., Jessup, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Queen of Angels Parish, St. Michael's Church, Jessup. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
