Alma H. Lavin, formerly of Spring Street, Carbondale, died Wednesday evening at the Forest City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the widow of John J. "Jack" Lavin, who died in May 1987.
Born in Dalton, daughter of the late Ernest J. and Leona M. Bogart Hilton, she was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. She was a graduate of Waymart High School. Before retirement, she was employed as a teller at Community Bank & Trust, Eynon.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen Ceruti and husband, Michael, Owego, N.Y.; a son, Joseph Lavin and wife, Anne, Vandling; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Lavin, in 2008.
As per her request, cremation was held. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. Arrangements are by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale.
