Amelia Smetana

Amelia Smetana, 86, of Peckville, died Friday at Green Ridge Health Care Center in Scranton. She was the wife of Edward Smetana, who died July 6, 1998.

Born in Jessup, daughter of the late Angelo and Maria Averardi Bisignani, she was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Peckville and was a graduate of Blakely High School. Before retirement, she worked at Martin's Pharmacy in Peckville for 50 years. Amelia enjoyed doing yard work and she had a special place in her heart for her dog, Prince.

Surviving are a sister-in-law, Lorraine Bisignani; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Alfred Bisignani.

The funeral will be Tuesday with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Peckville.

Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Robert E. Decker Funeral Home, 702 River St., Peckville. Family and friends will meet at the church on the morning of the funeral.
