Angela Checho Dommes

Angela Checho Dommes of West Scranton died Thursday morning at Moses Taylor Hospital after being stricken ill at home. Her husband of 36 years, Louis Dommes, died March 29, 1986.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Pumilia Checho, she was educated in Scranton schools and was a graduate of Scranton Central High School. Before retirement, she was employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry, and also worked at Capitol Records. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, West Scranton.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Angela's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Scranton Health Care Center for their compassion and excellent care given to their mom.

Surviving are a daughter, LuAnn Stevens, Taylor; a son, Robert and wife, Debbie, Scranton; two grandchildren, Douglas Stevens and Ashley Dommes; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Checho, Rose Pinko and Teresa Ritter; and four brothers, Joseph, Sam, Charles and Nicholas Checho.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carl J. Savino Funeral Home, 157 S. Main Ave., West Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Jackson Street, Scranton. Interment will be in the Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.

Friends may call Tuesday, 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Patrick's Church, 1403 Jackson St., Scranton, PA 18504; or to the Activities Fund of the Scranton Health Care Center, 2933 McCarthy St., Scranton, PA 18505.
