Anna B. Cawley D'Amico, Blakely, 100 years old, passed away into the arms of the Lord on Monday morning while surrounded by her family. She would Have celebrated her 101st birthday on Aug. 12. She was the widow of Marcus S. D'Amico, who passed away March 28, 1988.
Born in the Minooka section of Scranton, daughter of the late Patrick and Belinda Clarke Cawley, she was a member of St. Ann's Basilica, educated in Minooka public schools and a graduate of Minooka High School. Anna devoted her life to her family and instilled the values of family togetherness. Her wisdom, wit and charm always brought a smile to everyones face. She thoroughly enjoyed every minute of life and never let anything bring her down.
Anna resided in West Scranton for over 30 years, where she was a major promoter for St. Ann's Mission Co-op. She then moved to the Blakely area with her family. The gentle and beautiful way she lived her life was an inspiration to many. Her love of her family now continues from above.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Michael Kondash, whom she adored and loved dearly; and Traditional Home Health and Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion.
She is survived by her four children for whom she lived her life, Carol and husband, Joseph Quinn, Blakely, whom she resided with; Beverly and Jack Flanagan, Dalton; Marie D'Amico, Blakely; and Robert and wife, Debra, Clarks Summit; seven grandchildren, Christine Quinn Olenick, Maureen Quinn Honney, Maureen Flanagan Ingram, Matt Quinn, Mark Flanagan, Kathryn Quinn Miller and Sarah D'Amico; six great-grandchildren, Kara and Ryan Olenick; Morgan Mitchko, Carly and Tori Miller; and Jack Ingram; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas, Patrick, William and Gerald Cawley; and three sisters, Mary Edwards, Helen Kloss and Margaret Dolly Casey.
The funeral will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home, 1240 St. Ann St., with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Ann's Basilica. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
