Anthony J. Talerico, 54, formerly of Old Forge and a resident of Moosic, died Thursday at the hospice inpatient unit at Regional Hospital of Scranton.
Born in Taylor on Dec. 6, 1958, son of Elizabeth McAvaney Talerico, Moosic, and the late Anthony E. Talerico, he was a 1976 graduate of Riverside High School. Tony faithfully served our country in the Navy. Before his illness, he was employed by Tobyhanna Army Depot for 35 years, and in 2012, he was recognized for his loyal service to our country. He was a parishioner of Queen of the Apostles Church, Avoca, VFW
Post 4945 and the American Legion, both of Old Forge. Tony loved to travel and was a devoted son who will be dearly missed.
Also surviving are a sister, Debra A. Gieski, Moosic; two brothers, Michael and wife, Janet, Duryea; and Matthew and wife, Michele, Moosic; seven nieces and nephews, Charity Marianelli, who was his caregiver; Michael Cohowicz, Matt and Corey Talerico, Kyla Gieski and Alyssa and Michael Talerico; a great-nephew, Brian Marinelli; and a great-niece, Kendal Marinelli.
The funeral will be Saturday at 1:15 p.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. in Queen of the Apostles Church, 715 Hawthorn St., Avoca, by the Rev. Phillip J. Sladicka. Interment with military honors will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Moosic.
