Antonino C. Bennici Sr., 77, of Harford, Pa., passed away January 21, 2014, after a brief illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Jean Marinacci Bennici.
He is also survived by three children, Antonino and Suzanne Bennici Jr., Harford, Pa.; Lisa Bennici, Sicklerville, N.J.; and Michael and Heather Bennici Sr., Olyphant, Pa.; six grandchildren, Samantha, Brianna, Tony, Marissa, Elizabeth and Michael Jr.; a sister, Marie Bruno; a brother, Italo and Bonnie Bennici; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and extended family members. He was predeceased by his mother, Josephine Ferrara Bennici; and father, Michael Bennici.
Nino was born in Palermo, Italy, and came to live in the United States at the age of nine. He was a graduate of East New York Vocational High School. Nino was employed as a union high rise contractor in New York City, prior to moving to Harford and starting his own construction business. He proudly served with the United States Army, stationed in Germany. Nino enjoyed gardening, maintained his own orchard with a variety of fruit and nut trees, and spending time relaxing in his gazebo. Nino had a passion for weight lifting. He spent many hours driving and reconditioning his classic cars. Nino loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014, at St. Lawrence Church, Great Bend, Pa. Spring interment will be made in St. John's Cemetery, New Milford, Pa. Friends may come to the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead, Pa., at 9 a.m., prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harford Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 206, Harford, PA 18823.
