Arlene Rasmussen

Arlene Rasmussen, 86, of Herrick Center, died Wednesday, surrounded by loved ones, at Forest City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Herrick Center, daughter of the late John and Anna Maslar Emmons, she was a member of St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, Forest City. She was a graduate of Herrick Center High School. Before her retirement, she was employed as a sewing machine operator at Gentex Corp., Simpson. She was previously employed by Bell Telephone Co., New York, as a directory assistance operator.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and cooking, and was an avid bird watcher.

The family would like to thank the staff of Forest City Nursing Center for the excellent care given to Arlene and family.

Surviving are two sons, John Rasmussen and wife, Meg, Jermyn; and David Rasmussen and wife, Ping, Boyertown; a daughter, Diane Thompson and husband, Kevin, Pittston; four grandchildren, David Rasmussen, Aryana Thompson and Danielle and Sean Buttito; a brother, Eugene Emmons, Carbondale; three sisters, Lorraine Thompson, Binghamton, N.Y.; Martha Kotar, Vandling; and Eunice Lozinak, Forest City; several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Eileen Buttito; and two brothers, William and George Emmons.

The funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main St., Forest City, with funeral liturgy at 10 at St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, Susquehanna Street, Forest City, to be celebrated by Monsignor John Sekellick, pastor. Spring interment will be at Myers Cemetery, Herrick Center.

Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Parastas will be Friday at 6.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Forest City Nursing Home Activities Fund, 915 Delaware St., Forest City, PA 18421.
