Barbara J. Arabio, 68, a lifelong resident of Carbondale, peacefully passed away on Monday morning.
Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Clementine Pettinato Arabio and graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Marywood College and was an elementary teacher for 32 years in the Forest City Regional School District, where she also was the Drama Director. Barbara was the director of the West Side Players in Carbondale, the choir director/organist for Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Carbondale, and was the choir director/organist at St. Mary's Assumption Church in Jessup.
A gifted musician and vocalist, Barbara shared her great passion for music with all who knew her, and her unique talent will be fondly remembered.
She is survived by a sister, Lucille Kubel and husband, Mort, Easton; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Kutch and Marie Falbo; and a brother, Angelo Arabio.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until Mass time.
