Ben F. Sartor, 87, of Throop, died Friday morning at Green Ridge Health Care Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Glinsky Sartor, in 2001.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Benjamin and Marie Schmaltz Sartor, Ben attended Scranton public schools and served as a Seabee in the Navy during World War II
. Before retirement, he worked as a shipping clerk for UGL, Dunmore. In his younger days, he enjoyed bowling and fishing.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, Throop, and enjoyed going to the Dunmore Senior Center, where he had numerous friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Harasym and the staff at the Green Ridge Health Care Center for their dedicated care to Ben.
Ben was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be missed by all of his family and friends.
Surviving are a daughter, Judith Lesso, Throop; a son, David Sartor, Dickson City; three grandchildren, Deborah Babinski and husband, David; David Sartor; and Andrew Sartor and wife, Sharon; two great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Natalie Babinski; nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Enkucenko; and brothers, Robert and infant Ronnie.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home, 445 Sanderson St., Throop, with Mass at 9:30 in Blessed Sacrament Parish at St. Anthony's Church, 215 Rebecca St., Throop. Interment, St. John's Cemetery, Throop.
