Betty E. Kelley

Betty E. Kelley of Jefferson Twp. died Thursday at Hospice Community Care following an illness.

Born in Jefferson Twp., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Florence Strackbein Edwards. She was a graduate of North Pocono High School and had been employed at Tobyhanna Army Depot. She was a veteran of the Air Force, serving during the Vietnam era. She was an active member of the VFW Thomas A. Snook Post 6520 and devoted much of her time and resources to numerous Vietnam veteran organizations.

She had an enormous sense of humor and the innate ability to infect others with her contagious laughter.

Surviving are a daughter, Ayanna M. Kelley and companion, John Washburn, of Duck Harbor; a son, Brian T. Kelley and wife, Laura, of Levittown; brothers, Lawrence Edwards and wife, Margaret, of Cortez; Ronald Edwards and wife, Celia, of Panama City, Fla.; Harold Edwards and wife, Carol, of Potter County; and John and wife, Nancy, of Jefferson Twp.; a granddaughter, Amelia; several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are welcome to attend a celebration of Betty's life, with military honors. The celebration will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, 1 to 4 p.m. at the Jefferson Twp. Lions Club, Lions Road, Lake Ariel. Cremation took place in the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
