Carl J. Sullivan, 85, of Dunmore, died Tuesday at the Coronary Care Unit at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Plains Twp. His wife, the former Carmela Mecca, died June 15, 1998.
Born in Scranton, son of the late John and Lillian Gilgallon Sullivan, he was a graduate of Dickson City High School. He was a Navy veteran and served during the Korean War
. Before retirement, he was employed by Chamberlain Manufacturing Co. He was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish and its Holy Name Society.
He was married to his wife, Carmela, for 30 years, which were the happiest years of his life. He was a mild-mannered man and family and faith were most important in his life. He enjoyed dining and visiting with his friends at Friendly's Restaurant in Dunmore. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and made several trips to the college games. He was very proud of his Irish heritage.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Stivala and the nurses and staff of the intensive care unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, for all of their care and compassion.
Surviving are brothers, Joseph Hickey, Thomas Hickey and Gerard Jacquinot; several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by sisters, Alice Hickey Babinec and Mary Sullivan; and a brother, Charles Sullivan.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, Dunmore. Interment, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
