Carmel Bifano Gillette

Carmel Bifano Gillette, 92, of Carbondale, died Thursday at Bethany Village.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Joseph and Fannie Mancuso Bifano, she was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, and a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. Before her retirement, she was a 50-year employee of Zazzera's Food Center, Carbondale.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the nursing staff of Bethany Village for the kindness extended to Carmel.

Surviving are two sisters, Rosemarie Petrucelli and Lenore Cummings, both of Chevy Chase, Md.; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Frank and Samuel Bifano.

The funeral will be Saturday with Mass of Christian Burial at 8:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. Arrangements are by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale.

As per her request, there will be no public viewing.
