Carol A. Eramo, 88, of Scranton, died Thursday at the Geisinger CMC/VNA Hospice Unit. Her husband of 57 years, Frank J. Eramo, died on July 2, 2010.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Lang Pfleckl. Educated at Scranton Central High School, she had been employed as a waitress at Stouffers of New York City, and retired from Tony Harding's of Scranton. She was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception and had formerly been very active with her husband with the American Ukrainian Veterans of Lackawanna County.
Carol was a loving wife, mother, doting gram, sister and friend who was always willing to help anyone in need. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and baking for family and friends, going to the casino, spoiling her husband, daughters and especially her grandson, Sean. Carol was the caregiver for many members of her family and several friends. Her love, sense of humor, wit and personal care will be cherished by many.
She is survived by two daughters, Marianne Piazza and husband, Richard, Dunmore; and Francine Eramo, Scranton; one grandson, Sean Thorpe, Dunmore; one sister, Ruth Eagen; one brother, Paul Pfleckl and wife, Shirley, all of Virginia; several wonderful nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers, George, Joseph, John, Francis and Louis Pfleckl; and three sisters, Christine Kispert, Mary Russell and Margaret Steininger.
Her funeral will be on Monday at 8:45 a.m. from the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home, 254-268 Railroad Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 801 Taylor Ave., Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Joseph F. Sica. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
Viewing for family and friends will be on Sunday, 4 to 8 p.m.
