Carol Emmett

Carol Emmett, 67, of Galena, Md., and formerly of Clifford Twp., died Thursday at her home in Galena. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Kleinz.

Born Sept. 22, 1945, in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Emma Salansky O'Hop. Before her retirement, she had been employed for 25 years as a registered nurse for the state of New Jersey. She enjoyed classical music, art and traveling. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother whose spirit and kind heart will be missed by all who knew her. Over the years, she fulfilled the role as the primary caregiver to her family having cared for her mom and sister, Patricia.

She is survived by two children, Lynn Brainard and wife, Bonnie, Missouri; and Michael Brainard and wife, Irish of Clifford; two grandchildren, Coleman and Shainah Brainard; a brother, William O'Hop and wife, Kristyna of Dale City, Va.; two sisters, Patricia O'Hop of Galena, Md.; and JoAnne Bolin of Factoryville; many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Dennis Catholic Church, 153 N. Main St., Galena.

Friends may call Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena.

Friends may also call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford. A prayer service will be conducted at 5 by the Rev. Michael Kirwin, pastor of St. John Vianney Parish, Royal.
