Carol M. Lindsey Reed, 76, of Scranton, died Sunday morning at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pa. She was the widow of James T. Reed, who died Sept. 10, 2005.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late James and Romayne McShaffery Lindsey, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Before retirement, she was employed by Hadden Craftsmen, Scranton, for 30 years. She was a member of Holy Rosary Church, where she served as a Eucharistic minister. She was proud of her service work at Delaware Towers, where she also served as a Eucharistic minister.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who was a woman of great faith. She was known for her Irish cooking, especially her recipe for potato dressing. She will be greatly missed but is finally back with her husband and "best friend," Jimmy.
The family would like to thank Carrie Chase and Donna Coleman for the kindness and compassion shown while caring for their mother.
Surviving are two sons, James T. Reed and Michael Reed and wife, Julie, Scranton; two daughters, Maripat Kovalkoski and husband, Peter, Scranton; and Erin Cescon and companion, John Carl, Sinking Springs; 10 grandchildren, Nicole Costanzo, Eric Kovalkoski, Joseph Williams, Katie Cescon, Patrick, Michael and Timothy Cescon; Jamie, Sarah and James M. Reed; one great-grandchild, Andrew Costanzo; grandson-in-law, Nick Costanzo; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Joan Kraky and Nancy Orr; and a granddaughter, Olivia Cescon.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Edward Knight O'Donnell Funeral Home, 323 William St., with Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Mary, Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church, Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church.
Viewing will be today from 4 to 7 p.m.
