Catherine L. "Kay" Dick, 68, of Carbondale, died Sunday afternoon at the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. Her husband of 48 years is Joseph A. Dick Sr. They were married Oct. 3, 1964.
Born March 11, 1944, in Carbondale, she was the daughter of Josephine Trelc Skubic of Carbondale. She was a 1964 graduate of Fell High School and a member of Albert H. Crane American Legion Post 221 Ladies Auxiliary.
She was generous, loving and caring and was an avid New York Yankees fan. She also enjoyed her trips to the casino and shopping. She loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren, and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is also survived by two sons, Joseph Dick Jr. and Mark Dick and wife, Angel, all of Carbondale; two daughters, Karen Blake and husband, Brian, Carbondale Twp.; and Sherry Shaw, Carbondale; five grandchildren, Kayla Dick, Damien, Nathen and Elyssa Shaw; and Matthew Dick; two sisters, Joyce Carachilo, Carbondale; and Barbara Houman, Waymart; three brothers, Joseph Haney Forest City; Donald Haney, Carbondale; and Robert Haney, Waymart; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Edward "Dinky" Davis and Ronald Haney.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., Farview and 41st streets, Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
