Catherine S. Lesniak

Catherine S. Lesniak of Mount Cobb, Jefferson Twp., died Thursday morning at Allied Skilled Nursing Center, Scranton, after a three-month illness. She and her husband, John Lesniak Jr., had been together for more than 48 years and celebrated their wedding anniversary on Oct. 25.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Alice Seig Slack. A graduate of Moosic High School, she had been employed for 11 years by the General Electric plant in Moosic, and retired from Tobyhanna Army Depot with more than 22 years as a electronics repair technician in the cable-manufacturing branch.

Cathy was a loving wife, who was an avid fisherman and especially enjoyed the fishing trips with her husband, John, to Canada for more than 40 years. Cathy and John would take a motor home to Florida every year for a period of three to four months enjoying the weather and also the Florida casinos.

She also was survived by two sisters, Margie Ely and husband, Cliff; and Sandra Slack, all of Madisonville; a sister in-law, Mary Ann Dougherty and husband, Michael; and a nephew, Michael Dougherty Jr., all of Scranton.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, George and William; and three sisters, Jean, Nancy and Linda.

Cremation took place on Friday in the Sunlight Crematory, Hanover Twp. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, 1605 Oram St., Scranton. Entombment will be in St. Catherine's Mausoleum, Moscow, at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends at the church Monday from 10 until Mass.
