Celestine G. Matteo

Celestine G. Matteo, Scranton, died Thursday at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania. She was the wife of Louis F. Matteo. The couple would have celebrated 63 years of marriage on April 29.

Born in Pittston, daughter of the late Fiore and Rose Cimino Musto, she was a member of St. Lucy's Church, educated in Scranton public schools, a graduate of West Scranton High School and Lackawanna Business School. Before retirement, she was employed by the Scranton Dry Goods Store and as a bookkeeper for several companies.

Celestine enjoyed her trips to Atlantic City, dancing and her many vacations with family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.

The family would like to thank the girls on the third floor at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania for their kindness to Celestine and her family, and a specials thanks to Jackie Patel for her special care and love.

Also surviving are a daughter, Christine Ravaioli and husband, Robert, Scranton; two granddaughters, Selena R. Melesky and husband, Eric, Throop; and Andrea C. Ravaioli, Scranton; two great-grandchildren, Kate Rose Melesky and Eric Robert Melesky; two brothers, Sonny Musto, Old Forge; and Gerald Musto and wife, Maryann, Scranton; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Guy Musto.

The funeral will be Monday with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Lucy's Church. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
