Charles J. Williams Sr., Scranton, died Monday evening at Mountain View Care Center in Scranton after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Dorothy Hedglin, on Jan. 23, 2002.
Born March 18, 1935, in Kingston, son of the late Charles and Mary Carpenter Williams, he was an Air Force veteran. Before his retirement, he was employed as a welder with the Elliott Co. of Scranton. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed spending time with his family. Charles was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Carrie Williams, Scranton; a son, Charles J. Williams Jr., Scranton; a stepson, Timothy Hedglin, Scranton; several grandchildren including Chelsea and Jordyn; a great-grandson, Jayce DiCicco; several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sons, Michael Evans and Jeffrey Williams; a sister, Ann Marie Williams; two brothers, Paul and Robert Williams; and a great-grandson, Brian Kochis Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted private at the convenience of the family.
