Charles Major, Hop Bottom, formerly of Clarks Summit, died Tuesday afternoon at Geisinger Community Medical Center from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. His wife is the former Doris Woodruff. The couple married on April 5, 1986.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Fred Charles and Alma Jean Ardoline Major, he was currently employed as a driver for Gress Poultry, previously working with DeFazio Express, Road Scholar and Parry Trucking. Charlie was a man of the Catholic faith who enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He will be deeply missed by his best friends, Zeke and Phoebe. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sons, Charles A. Major, Scranton; and Paul Cosner, Glenburn; three daughters, Annessa Major, Clarks Summit; and Lucrezia Bonifanti and Chris Robinson, both of Tunkhannock; three brothers, Theodore "Teddy," Jessup; Jeffrey, New Jersey; and the Rev. Thomas J., pastor of St. Ann, Shohola, Pa.; a sister, Norina Van Sickle, Clarks Summit; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Angel and Kaila Bigelow; and a brother, Patrick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, to be celebrated by his brother, the Rev. Thomas J. Major.
