Clarence Jennings

Clarence (Vernon) Jennings, 72, of Taylor, died Tuesday morning at home. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Jean Decker Jennings. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 9.

Born in Bainbridge, Ga., son of the late Clarence and Margaret Newberry Jennings, Vernon was a veteran of the Navy, honorably discharged after five years of service. He retired as a truck driver after 36 years. A former member of the Riverside Vikings booster club, he enjoyed following his children's athletic careers. He will be dearly missed.

He is also survived by his six sons, Vernon Jennings and wife, Linda, Moosic; David Jennings and wife, Mary, Taylor; Kevin Jennings, Schuylkill Haven; Mark Jennings, Las Vegas; Daniel Jennings and fiancée, Tara Larson, Moosic; and LeRoy Jennings and wife, Amy, Dallas; a brother, Pickins Jennings and wife, Joanne, Homer, Neb.; nine grandsons, Kaleb, Ethan, Noah, J.D., Aidan, Hunter, Matthew, Ryan and Shaun; many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by several siblings.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge. A memorial service will follow at 5. Visit for directions or to leave an online condolence.
