Darlene Telesz, 64, of Old Forge, died Saturday morning at the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit of Geisinger Community Medical Center. She and her beloved husband, Tom Telesz , would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on April 26.
Born in Scranton on Aug. 19, 1949, daughter of the late John and Edna Tompkins Pencek, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, class of 1967. She had worked for Topps Chewing Gum Co. in both Duryea and after its closing, in Scranton. She was a longtime member of the former St. Michael's Church in Old Forge. A loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother whose greatest joy came while spending time with her grandchildren, she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Beidler and husband, Andrew, Scranton; son, Tom Telesz, Old Forge; brothers, John Pencek and wife, Rita, Moosic; and Don Pencek and wife, Diane, Endwell, N.Y.; sister, Barbara Edwards and husband, Joseph, Scranton; three grandchildren, Katlyn, Rachel and Ally; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by an infant brother and an infant sister.
Her family would like to acknowledge the staff of VNA Hospice and Dr. Kenneth Sebastianelli for the exceptional care given to Darlene during her illness.
