David "Phil" David

David "Phil" David, 63, of Olyphant, died Wednesday at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, the former Cynthia Slonin.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Martin R. and Phyllis Kowalski David, he was a graduate of St. Mary's Parochial School, Dickson City, and St. Patrick's High School, Olyphant, and he received a degree in accounting from Lackawanna College. He was employed as a controller for Phillips and Maier Automotive, Cee Kay Auto and Duke Tires, and he was a service underwriter for Motor World, Wilkes-Barre, and Hyundai, Dickson City. He was an associate for the Pennsylvania State UCS Service Center before retirement.

He exceptionally cared for his home, family and pets, especially Nick, his German shepherd, his companion. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandpa. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, many people, and he never asked for anything in return. He loved television and movies for family entertainment.

Surviving are a son, Jason David, Throop; a daughter, Wendy David, Blakely; three grandchildren, Alexia, Alexander and Timmy David; nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City. Entombment will be at St. Mary's Mausoleum, Dickson City. Arrangements are by the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City.
