Donald J. Strumsky, 49, of Jessup, died Monday afternoon at Geisinger Community Medical Center after a sudden illness.
Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, he was the son of the late William J. and Stasia Jablonski Strumsky. He graduated from Valley View High School, class of 1981, and served in the U.S. Air Force. Donald worked faithfully and loyally for Lou's Pizza for over 30 years. He resided the majority of his life in Jessup and lived in Germany, Virginia and Alabama.
He traveled the world with his family, his father served in the U.S. Army. He was the kindest, most generous caring man. His loyalty to family and friends went above and beyond. He was loved by all. He lived day in and day out for his nephews, Matthew and Kristopher. He spent his weekdays cooking dinner and hurrying off to baseball, basketball, Fall weekends and the Football field. Donnie's smile was never brighter when he talked or thought about Matthew or Kristopher.
He was a lifelong Washington Redskins, Los Angeles Dodgers and North Carolina Tarheels fan. He was, once again, loyal to the core. Win or lose Donnie never jumped ship and when they were good he let you know. Especially the Redskins and their fight song: Hail to the Redskins / Hail Victory / Braves on the warpath / Fight for Old D.C. / Run or Pass and Score / We want a lot more / Fight on, Fight on / Till you have won / Sons of Washington / Rah! Rah! Rah! / Hail to the Redskins / Hail Victory / Braves on the war path / Fight for Old D.C.
Surviving are three brothers, William A., Jessup; Michael, Mayfield; and David, Jessup; one sister, Diane Pittsman and husband, James, Archbald; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Strumsky.
The funeral will be Monday from the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St., Jessup, with services at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. by the Rev. Jack Munley.
