Donald M. "Donnie" Junz, 43, of Stroudsburg, died Sunday evening at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. His wife is Valerie Keiper, also of Stroudsburg.
Born and raised in Scranton, son of Ann White Junz and the late Donald Junz, Donnie was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and was an entrepreneur at heart. He was co-owner and operator of The Valley Beat weekly newspaper, distributed in the Lehigh Valley.
He enjoyed playing billiards, but will be remembered most of all as a loving and caring husband, son, brother and uncle.
Also surviving are two sisters, Kimberly O'Malley, Clarks Summit; and Dawn Germano and husband, Nick, Dunmore; an aunt, Trudy Junz, Scranton; nieces and nephews, Katelyn Pasco, Nicholas Germano and Jillian and Benjamin O'Malley.
He was also preceded in death by a maternal grandmother, Ann Shimkosky; and paternal grandparents, Carl and Eleanor Junz.
The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Taylor Avenue and East Gibson Street, Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
