Doris L. Davis Chase, 84, of West Scranton, died Saturday at Commonwealth Hospice of NEPA following an illness. She was the widow of Roy K. Chase, who died in 2008.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late David and Ann Lewis Davis, she was a graduate of West Scranton High School. Before retirement, she was employed by Eureka Specialty and Parker Street Printing. She was a member of United Welsh Baptist Church and very proud of her Welsh heritage.
Doris was a loving mother, grandmother and friend, who spent many enjoyable summers with her sister and family at Lake Sheridan. She was especially proud of her grandchildren, and enjoyed attending their sporting events and theatre performances.
The family would like to thank Doris' many friends and the nurses at Regional Hospital, Moses Taylor Rehabilitation and Abington Manor for their kindness and support. The family would also like to thank Dr. Robert Kaville, for his care over the years, and Dr. Glenn Digwood, for the last two weeks.
Surviving are a son, Cal Chase and wife, Andrea, West Scranton; two grandchildren, Christopher David and Gianna Emily; a sister, Audrey Nesbitt, Lingelstown; nieces, Sandra Hay, Conway, Mass.; and Elizabeth Roberge, Springfield, Mass., who were like daughters; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, William Davis; and a sister, Janet Laudig.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Davies & Jones Funeral Chapel, 135 S. Main Ave., Scranton, with services by the Rev. Earl O. Cassel, pastor of United Welsh Baptist Church. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park.
