Dorothy Baransky

Dorothy Baransky, 95, formerly of Throop, died Nov. 26, at the home of her daughter, Sonya Gruszecki, with whom she resided in Dallas, Texas, for the past 11 years.

Born in Philadelphia on March 20, 1918, she was the daughter of John and Pearl Kolodchik Feduchak. She attended Blakely schools. She was married to Walter G. Baransky, who died May 23, 1997.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, Throop, and its Adoration Society. Prior to retirement, Dorothy was employed as a caterer by the Jefferson Towne House and the Jewish Community Center of Scranton.

Surviving are a daughter, Sonya Gruszecki and husband, Frank, Dallas; a son, Walter, Allentown, four grandchildren, Dr. Amy Gruszecki and husband, David Leavitt, Dallas; Cara Smalley and husband, Jared, Greenbrier, Tenn.; Aaron Baransky and wife, Kathy, Bernville, Pa.; and Michael Baransky, Nazareth; and a brother, Leo Feduchak and wife, Dorothy, Hop Bottom. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Matthew, Katie and Zachary Leavitt, Matthew and Brooke Smalley, and Abigale, Makayla, Aaron and Avery Baransky and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was also predeceased by sisters Anne Besho, Mary Sadlon and Evelyn Rudick, and brothers William, Michael, and John Feduchak.

The funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home with Mass at Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, celebrated by the Very Rev. William Chromey. Interment at St. Adalbert's Cemetery, Dickson City.

Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home, 445 Sanderson Ave., Throop. An Adoration Society service will be held Friday at 7.
