Dorothy Walsh, 79, of West Scranton, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at the Commonwealth Hospice of Northeastern Pennsylvania. She and her husband, Paul, recently celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary.
Born in Scranton, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Tramoni Arcurie. Dorothy was a graduate of West Scranton High School. She worked all of her life, beginning in the garment industry, and later worked for 30 years at Charles Sumner School, she loved seeing the smiles on all of the children's faces each day.
Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, sister, aunt and friend, who always brought a smile to the faces of all who knew her. She had a profound love for both the Catholic Church and spending time with her family. Her love for playing the slots brought about many trips to Atlantic City, Mohegan Sun, and Mount Airy Casino with her husband, Paul.
Surviving are sisters, Fran and husband, Joseph Pehanick; Josephine Manetti and Mary Williams, all of West Scranton.
Dorothy is also preceded in death by her brothers, Eugene, Anthony and Michael Arcurie.
Dorothy's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Commonwealth Hospice of Northeastern Pennsylvania, the Greenridge Healthcare Center, Dr. Turock and Dr. Dzwonczyk, for the outstanding care provided. Her niece, Teresa Mazzucca, who she loved and adored with all of her heart, was by her side throughout her illness.
The funeral will be conducted on Friday from the Patrick F. Guido Funeral Home, 120 S. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Lucy's Church, 949 Scranton St., Scranton. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.
