Duane J. Brunges

Duane J. Brunges, 86, of Montrose, died Thursday at Gracious Living Estates, Montrose. His wife of 54 years, Alice E. (Reynolds) Brunges, preceded him in death.

Born on April 16, 1928, in Centermoreland, son of the late George F. and Mildred E. (Carey) Brunges, he was the owner and operator of Brunges Tire and the Brunges Inn. He and his father also ran a sawmill and pallet company.

Duane enjoyed dancing, hunting and fishing, and loved being with his kids and grandkids.

Surviving are a son, James and wife, Colleen Brunges, Montrose; five grandchildren, Trish Benware, Michele and husband, Eric Jerauld; Hayden and wife, Melissa Brunges; Jan and husband, Scott Rosenkrans; and Brieanna Brunges; three sisters, Marion Arnold, Elaine and husband, James Miller; and Mildred and husband, Willard Tingley; brother, Glenn and wife, Betty Brunges; special friend and companion, Evelyn Fike; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Brunges; grandson, Todd Benware; and two brothers, Lewis and Bob Brunges.

Private services were held at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home at the family's convenience. Interment was at Montrose Cemetery.
