Edward Alan Dalrymple

Edward Alan Dalrymple, 58, of Walnutport, died Wednesday morning at Palmerton Hospital.

He was the son of Cline and Jane Petty Dalrymple of Newfoundland. Born Sept. 19, 1955, in Easton, Edward lived in Newfoundland for many years. He was an ace pitcher for the Wallenpaupack Area Buckhorns baseball team during his high school years, pitching several no-hitters. After graduating from high school in 1973, he went on to study physical education at Athens State College, Athens, Ala., where he continued to pitch. While at Athens, he was scouted by professional teams. He graduated in 1977.

Edward is also survived by brothers, Michael and James, both of Newfoundland; and Steven, Allentown; his nephews, Michael II, Josh and Kyle; nieces, Kelly, Lauren and Tinya; great-nephew, Michael III; great-niece, Kalilah; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Arthur J. Frey Funeral Home, 201 LaAnna Road, LaAnna, South Sterling.

Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 11. A graveside service will take place Saturday at 1 p.m. in South Easton Cemetery, West Milton and Iron streets, Easton.

As Edward was a very spiritual person, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Hope Springs, 636 Almond Road, Walnutport, PA 18088, attn: James Donegan.
