Edward D. Hackett

Edward D. Hackett, 72, of Lake Ariel, passed away peacefully on Feb. 15, 2013. He is survived by his wife, the former Rosemarie Schell.

Born in Rockville Centre, Long Island, N.Y., on Jan. 25, 1941, he was the son of the late James J. and Julia A. Hackett.

Following in his father's footsteps, his career spanned 40 years in the textile industry. He was an avid golfer and sports fan. He enjoyed many happy days at Cabana E20 at Malibu Beach Club on Long Island, playing cards and enjoying the summer sun with many friends and family. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren grow. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. He loved animals, especially his two latest companions, Mikey and Teddy.

Also surviving are two sons, Kevin and wife, Jodi, of Largo, Fla.; and Timothy and wife, Deanne, of Riverview, Fla.; two daughters, Deborah and her companion, Kimberly, of Blooming Grove, N.Y.; and Kelly and husband, Lloyd Goldstein, of Southington, Conn.; eight grandchildren, Katelynn, Nicole, Alyssa, Meaghan, Ryan, Sarah, Garrison, and our newest angel, Caleigh; several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, James D. and wife, Kathleen.

The funeral will be Thursday morning at 8:45 a.m. in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 in St. Mary's Church, St. Mary's Church Road, Ledgedale. Cremation will follow in the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
